The reason we go Martial is so as to pick up Bellum Justum ASAP. For now, go with Martial – Chivalry. You have no vassals right now so the opinion boost is wasted, but the prowess and advantage boosts are really important since you’ll probably be commanding your armies personally for a while. This is a huge topic and one that I’ll dedicate a section to. You don’t have to worry about using your prestige to declare war right now, because declaring on your nearby neighbors will cost piety instead. #CRUSADER KINGS 3 BEST START UPGRADE#Upgrade your Bowmen as much as possible, but make sure not to send yourself into negative prestige. To raise them without raising levies, just raise your troops and then click on the X button next to the estimate of how long it will take for the levies to gather. You can disband them on one end of the realm and then raise them up on the other. You can raise your MAAs anywhere, instantly. It’s actually very good to do so, because they only cost prestige maintenance for tribal rulers. At the start of the game they’ll basically be a supplement to your levies, but later on you’ll be able to wage wars entirely with them. MAAs will be the backbone of your military for (I think) the entire game. Bowmen are countered by cavalry, but cavalry is expensive and you can just build a Pikemen division later. Bowmen benefit from hills and forests, which Ireland has plenty of. Skirmishers are also countered by Bowmen, which only cost like 10 prestige more. They only counter Heavy Infantry, which is so expensive that nobody should have any. They’re the cheapest aside from Skirmishers, but Skirmishers are trash. Next get 3 Bowmen Man at Arms (MAA) divisions. Make sure to always be swaying, befriending, or romancing. #CRUSADER KINGS 3 BEST START FREE#Swaying is basically a free (unless you’re Shy) way to gain opinion points. Start out by swaying your Archbishop. He won’t be endorsing you at the start, meaning that he won’t be giving you his gold and levies. The key to being a successful CK3 player above all else is to not give up.Lots to do. One mistake 30 years in the past in-game can suddenly end in loss of titles and land, and as a beginner, it can be hard to keep an eye out for these unexpected pitfalls. Don't give up if you lose landĭespite your best efforts, successions will not always go smoothly wars will rage across your lands, and your relatives won't always be content to hang out on the sidelines while you control the realm. When the heir inherits, they'll remain in control of any lands that are de jure a part of that title, even if a lower rank title passes to one of their siblings. Your highest rank will always be your character's Primary title, and it will always pass to their heir. Lastly, if you're a King who has formed multiple Kingdoms, you'll want to create an Empire. If you're a Duke who controls multiple Duchies, you'll want to form a Kingdom. In that case, you'll want to form a Duchy. So, suppose you're a Count who holds several Counties. The way to prevent loss of land under Confederate Partition is to form a domain that will give you a rank superior to any other titles under your control.
